Opening of Oktoberfest in the Gardens Adelaide!
I was very honoured to open the first Oktoberfest in the Gardens - Adelaide of 2016. Held at the Showgrounds, this magnificent new event celebrates Adelaide's German roots and modern day Anglo-Saxon manifestations like no other. Adelaide, named after the German Queen Adelaide was the perfect city to hold this new event, with an incredible array of entertainment, bands, asortments of German beer and food. We also held the first Male and Female Strongarm Championships infront of cheering crowds. Whilst the first Oktoberfest may date back to the marriage of Ludwig the I in 1810, Adelaide is poised to make this event part of its cultural program for decades to come!
